Daman Medical Training & Research Center

The Daman Medical Training and Research Center (DMTRC) is the academic and professional development arm of the DHMIC healthcare network. It strengthens healthcare quality through structured training, research support, innovation, and community-facing education — serving as the central hub for training, research, examinations, and consultancy alongside the group's hospitals. Institutional partners collaborate through six value streams covering accreditation, simulation, research, international programmes, public health, and quality technology.

Vision

To become a leading regional hub for excellence in medical education, research, and healthcare innovation.

Mission

To improve patient outcomes and professional competencies by delivering evidence-based training, promoting high-quality research, and engaging the community through impactful educational initiatives.

Core services & programmes

Training & CPD

Competency-focused learning by doing for DHMIC staff and external healthcare professionals — clinical skills, leadership, quality improvement, patient safety, and simulation-based training (BLS, ACLS, procedural skills, emergency response, and team communication) with formal certification.

Research & innovation

Research governance, ethics support, mentorship, data services, and statistical analysis — building a pipeline from proposal writing to publication, clinical problem-solving, and innovation reviews.

International examinations

Developing a centre for international examination access and preparation in Sudan, including Prometric, OET, and selected Royal College pathways to support workforce mobility and professional certification.

Consultancy & accreditation

Quality systems support, ISO 7101 healthcare management awareness, standards gap analysis, and institutional improvement support for partner organizations.

Advanced platforms

ECHO and tele-mentoring specialist sessions, telemedicine programmes in echo, oncology, and emergency medicine, the DMTRC podcast for professional and community health education, and public awareness campaigns aligned with community health needs.

Network hospitals

DMTRC operates alongside DHMIC hospitals to deliver training, quality, and education:

  • Elobyyied International Hospital (Daman) — El Obeid
  • Merowe Medical City — Merowe, Northern State
  • Sharq El-Nile Specialized Hospital — East Nile, Khartoum

Strategic directions

DMTRC is moving from individual events to a sustainable academic platform:

  1. Build simulation labs, a learning management system, exam infrastructure, and a research data centre.
  2. Standardize course approval, trainer credentialing, assessment, certification, and reporting processes.
  3. Scale programmes to internal hospitals and external participants through multi-centre academic programmes.
  4. Publish through research mentorship, manuscript preparation, grant applications, and implementation studies.
  5. Partner nationally and internationally for training, examinations, and innovation.
